Facebook has grown on me a lot. It's great for social media marketing, especially if you're trying to cultivate an audience. As well, I think it offers a robust open market for products and services. It's also a great place to advertise upcoming events and so on.

I think what Facebook tries to do, is be the homepage of the internet, in a way. As in to be the first stop for those using the web. You can read your news, talk to friends, listen to new music, etc. I liken it to a bulletin board on a college campus or in a public area. But this is all through the internet.

I think in terms of what they offer and how much is available to you free of charge, I believe it is one of the best tools for social promotion around. If not, the best. I've used Facebook a lot over the years and am very happy with the results. Of course I pair it up with Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and other social sites out there. The more you're on, the better your SEO work will go.
